Sarah Sanders Launches Full-Blown Attack On Reporters Leaking Classified Info: ‘Look Around This Room’

Since Donald Trump came to office, the left-wing media has been guffawing over all the “leaks” of “classified information” coming out of Washington. And, once again, the press was asking Presidential spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders about leaks. But, as she does so well, she shut them down with one line.

As the February 12 press conference rolled on, one reporter asked Sanders if the White House could assure the American people that the Trump Administration is doing all it can to make sure only properly cleared employees of the administration are able to get ahold of classified information.

The main question is why former White House aid Rob Porter had access to classified information.

“Why are high level aides allowed to work with classified information without appropriate security,” the reporter asked.

Sanders noted that security clearances are not a job performed by the White House: “Once again that’s a question for the FBI and other intelligence communities. They make that determination. That’s not something that’s decided by the White House,” she said.

Slipping in Porter’s name, the reporter pressed Sanders saying, “Can you guarantee that you are protecting classified information?”

But Sanders slashed right back and shut the press down on the matter.

“I think we are taking every step we can to protect classified information,” Sanders said. “I mean frankly, if you guys have real concerns about leaking out classified information, look around this room. You guys are the ones that publish classified information, & put national security at risk. That doesn’t come from this White House.”

Watch the exchange in this tweet:

Sanders is right. It is highly hypocritical of the press to be tsk tsking the White House for leaks that “damage national security” at the same time they are writing big exposes reporting on these very leaks that they claim are “damaging national security”!!

Dear, dear, anti-American press, if you are so worried about national security why do you keep repeating and spelling out the leaks you say are so damaging?

Indeed, BizPacReview reported that the Department of Justice has been going crazy on leak investigations:

Indeed, last August Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that his Justice Department was “pursuing about three times as many leak investigations as were open at the end of the Obama era, a significant devotion of resources to hunt down disclosures that have plagued the Trump administration,” according to the New York Times. The FBI even created a new counterintelligence unit to work these cases.

“I strongly agree with the president and condemn in the strongest terms the staggering number of leaks undermining the ability of our government to protect this country,” Sessions said in August.

And it’s the press that chooses to publish these leaks, time and time again, as Sanders pointed out.

  1. Media bias isn’t real? #fakenews is a Trump manufactured distraction?

Watch this video. How can you argue that Sanders isn’t right?

This reporters’ intent is to try to paint this administration into an indefensible position with her line of questioning.

She asked a question, Sanders is responding and the reporter interrupts her mid answer. Why? Because Sanders wasn’t giving her the answer she wanted.

“Can you guarantee that classified information won’t be leaked?” That’s a ridiculous question. Can ANYONE really be expected to be able to say “yes, that will never happen”? Can you guarantee that none of your kids will try an alcoholic beverage before they turn 21? Of course not; no one can exert that level of control on others.

But that’s not what that reporter was thinking. She went into this press briefing thinking “I’m going to try to pin something messy on these people”. You can’t explain that exchange any other way. She’s not interested in direct lines of questioning to get to the root of a matter, rather, she’s trying to trip up Sanders into saying something salacious or indefensible.

I’m not sure any press secretary has ever done a better job than Sarah Sanders is doing right now. Disrespect her or this administration at your own peril – she’s proven that time and again.
