Familiar Democrat Telling Aides That 2020 Presidential Run Is ‘A Real Possibility’

The Democrats are in pretty bad shape as they look ahead towards 2020. For starters, the party doesn’t have a message. So far during Trump’s presidency, the only message coming from Democrats has been that they don’t like Trump. That’s not a winning message and it certainly doesn’t do anything to improve the lives of voters. On top of that, the Democratic Party doesn’t have a leader. Democrats have fractured into several different groups that don’t seem to be getting along very well.

The door is wide open for any Democrat to take control and lead the party in 2020.

According to recent reports, one familiar face is almost definitely going to run. Again.

From Associated Press:

Former Vice President Joe Biden is tiptoeing toward a potential presidential run in 2020, even broaching the possibility during a recent gathering of longtime foreign policy aides.

Huddled in his newly opened office steps from the U.S. Capitol, Biden began a planning meeting for his new diplomacy center by addressing the elephant in the room. He said he was keeping his 2020 options open, considering it a real possibility. He insisted he had made no decision, and didn’t need to yet, according to five people who either attended the meeting or were briefed on it by those who did.

This is the best they can do?

A guy who ran for president twice and failed is going to save the party? Haven’t Democrats been telling us they didn’t like Republicans because they are the party of “old white guys”?What happened to that?

According to the polls (whatever that means these days), Joe Biden is in pretty good shape to earn the nomination if he runs.

From The Hill:

Former Vice President Joe Biden has a small lead over media mogul Oprah Winfrey and the field of potential Democratic presidential candidates for 2020, according to a new survey.

The poll from RABA Research — an outlet helmed by past campaign aides for former President Obama and former Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush — finds Biden leading among Democratic voters polled with 26 percent support.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), whose insurgent challenge to Hillary Clinton turned him into a pop culture icon and progressive hero, is in second place at 21 percent.

Democrats like to pretend that Biden has the Joe Everyman vibe that appeals to blue-collar workers but the reality of the situation is that Biden is an out of touch Washington elite who very much represents the swamp. The Democratic Party took a huge hit during the Obama years. It lost over 1,000 seats and made voters so angry that they elected Donald Trump. Biden was there every step of the way for that. Do Democrats really want to go back to those years?

The Democrats have some time to get their act together but you really have to wonder what kind of shot they have in 2020 running a guy like Biden who represents the past. Does anyone really think that Biden could beat Trump if the economy is booming?
