Late night TV “comedian” Jimmy Kimmel is finally realizing that his recent sinking into full “libtard” personality is hurting his own bottom line and popularity. But will he finally learn his lesson and back off the constant extreme, left-wing blather that is hurting his ratings?
Well, that is anyone’s guess, but at least he seems to finally be “getting” that his careen to the left is hurting his career, according to Conservative Tribune.
Kimmel reportedly told Oprah Winfrey’s O magazine, “According to polls I’ve seen, it has cost me commercially.”
However, if he fully understands the damage, he is defiant. “That’s not ideal, but I wouldn’t change anything I said,” he added.
Kimmel has spent at least a year devolving into a ranting left-winger:
It’s easy to forget now — after Kimmel has spent more than a year unnecessarily taking sides in the country’s culture wars — but the late-night comedian wasn’t always so radioactively political.
As the liberal website Vox noted in September, prior to President Donald Trump’s election, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC “tended to approach politicians with the same instinct it applied to uninformed people wandering down Hollywood Boulevard: wryly pointing out how stupid they could be.”
Other than an idiotically emotional response to the death of a lion in Zimbabwe at the hands of an American big game hunter, Kimmel was generally just another guy who told gags as most of America headed to bed. (Kimmel’s weeping over the death of Cecil the lion was a mainstream media phenomenon, with gushing coverage from his own ABC as well as outlets like CNN.)
Kimmel really went over the edge in 2017 when he turned the Oscars into one giant Trump-hating mess. Naturally the ratings fell to a new low.
Then, in May, Kimmel went off the cliff when he used his “comedy” monologue to come to the support of Obamacare as he discussed his infant son’s heart troubles. In Kimmel’s version of events, anyone who doesn’t support Obamacare is a monster who wants kids to die.
With a $15 million salary, it is sure that Kimmel can fully afford to pay for all the healthcare he wants right out of his pocket. Government-funded healthcare shouldn’t matter a bit to him. Yet here is this millionaire liberal acting as if he is a common man.
So, now Kimmel has put himself up as a spokesman for Democrat healthcare. But, as Rush Limbaugh pointed out, Kimmel is merely mouthing the talking points put out by Democrat Senate leader Chuck Schumer of New York.
“Kimmel is a funny guy, but he’s an idiot,” Limbaugh said. “He really is an ignoramus. He doesn’t know what he doesn’t know. He’s one of these guys that doesn’t know what he doesn’t know and thinks he knows everything because he’s got a pipeline to ‘Chuck You’ Schumer’s office when it comes to health care.”
Kimmel has continued his far left activism, too, repeatedly attacking Trump, Republicans and anyone who would support either.
Then came this year’s Oscars. Incredibly, even after last year’s ratings debacle, the Oscars hired Kimmel to host the show again. And wouldn’t you know it, the ratings crashed to even worse lows than last year.
The ratings for Sunday night’s telecast of the 90th annual Academy Awards collapsed by a whopping 16 percent, which would mean an all-time low, according to early estimates.
Variety reports that the “8 p.m.-11 p.m. portion of ABC’s telecast averaged an 18.9 household rating and 32 share in Nielsen’s metered market overnight ratings … That’s down about 16% from the 22.5/37 rating generated by the 2017 Oscars.”
According to Deadline, the “18.9 appears to be an all-time low for the Oscars, below the previous low ratings point for the Oscars, logged with the 2008 telecast (21.9).”
Everything Kimmel touches turns to ratings garbage.
Even if Kimmel is stubborn enough never to fully admit it, one has to wonder how long his employers will put up with this ratings wrecking ball?
