Former President Barack Obama deserves credit for a number of things. For example: inciting racial tension, dividing the country, numerous scandals, and socialized medicine, to name a few.
However, Barry did absolutely jack squat when it came to turning around the economy. If anything, his liberal policies made it harder for the American people to thrive.
Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett says in light of Friday’s jobs report numbers (where unemployment dipped below 4% for the first time in 18 years), Barack deserves the credit.
You read that correctly.
President Donald Trump celebrated April’s 3.9 percent unemployment number on Twitter Friday morning, pointing out that the rate had finally fallen below four percent.
“JUST OUT: 3.9% Unemployment. 4% is Broken!” he wrote.
The United States economy added 164,000 jobs in April, as unemployment fell to 3.9 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That marks a new 18-year low.
The unemployment rate for black Americans fell to a low of 6.6 percent, the lowest rate on record, and Hispanic unemployment tied its record low of 4.8 percent.
Trump appeared frustrated that special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation was taking away attention from his administration’s economic accomplishments.
From Daily Caller:
Obama administration senior advisor Valerie Jarrett said on CNN Friday that her old boss should be given credit for the economy improving under President Trump.
More from Grabien, featuring Jarrett on CNN:
JARRETT: “Look, I think we have to look at it over a longer horizon than that. If you think about what the economy was like when President Obama took office, we were losing 750,000 jobs a month. Under his watch the unemployment rate dropped in half and it’s encouraging to see that we’re continuing to make progress. We want to see wages go up and I think that’s an important focus and I was glad to see you talk about that too. So for the workers out there who are back to work today, I think it’s very encouraging.”
Can you say DELUSIONAL!?
More on Jarrett, per NewsBusters:
There are few things more damaging to the liberal media’s credibility than conflicts of interest and false/fake stories. For CNN, it was the latter on Friday’s New Day as co-host Alisyn Camerota treated former Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett to a softball interview, but failed to disclose that Valerie’s daughter (Laura Jarrett) is a CNN Justice correspondent.
If CNN wants to lecture Fox News or anyone else in the media about ethics, perhaps it should lead the way in transparency. And, no, it shouldn’t be assumed all viewers are able to make the connection between Laura and Valerie Jarrett.
