You may recall last week when liberals were infuriated with a picture of illegal alien children being held in a cage and the story that the Trump administration had ‘lost’ 1500 illegal alien children. Many Democrats tweeted the picture of the children out including Antonio Villaraigosa who was running for Governor.
Well, of course, both stories were nonsense.
But what was true was that the picture of the children in cages was under former President Barack Obama in 2014 and directly because of his policies. People believed if they entered illegally with children it increased their chances of staying.
So they flooded the borders with children creating an overflow and a crisis.
It’s actually better now because the influx is much less, albeit still troubling.
There were even documented stories of the Obama administration handing children over to human traffickers.
Such ‘errors’ have also been reduced under President Donald Trump as they have improved the process by which guardians or suitable sponsors are assessed.
Many, like Villaraigosa, took down the picture once they figured out it was about Obama, because can’t criticize him.
But that didn’t stop Democrats from trying to attack Trump now on the issue while ignoring what Obama did then.
The worst possible explanation for the hypocrisy came from Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).
Feinstein who has served as a Senator since 1992, 26 years claimed that she was “not well enough aware” of the mistreatment of illegal aliens under Obama.
She’s served for 26 years but hasn’t paid enough attention to the immigration issue? Is there any wonder Democrats are completely in the weeds on this issue?
CNN’s Jake Tapper tried to hold her a little bit to the fire.
From Free Beacon:
“There were a lot of things done to undocumented immigrants that the immigrant community was very upset about during the Obama years, that Democrats didn’t seem as outspoken about,” Tapper said.
“What do you say to people who are saying, ‘where was all this activism during the Obama years?'” he asked.
“I don’t believe that it was nearly to the extent that it is today. And candidly, I didn’t really know enough about it at that time to focus on it,” Feinstein said.
“I do know about it now,” she said, mentioning a Judiciary Committee meeting on the issue and what she has learned.
She criticized the policy of separating parents from children which also took place under Obama. But if a parent is being prosecuted for illegal entry, just as if someone was arrested for an ordinary there is always a ‘separation.’ Under Obama, however, there was a benefit for coming in with children, it increased your chances of being released and then disappearing into society. So it became an excuse to misuse kids for the purpose of getting in.
But that went missing for Feinstein, who called the process “inhumane, callous, and something I never thought my country would do.”
Feinstein, who is 84, is running for reelection in the midterms. She’ll be 90 if she serves out her term. Yes, it’s California, so she’ll win.
